Post YouTube on Windows Mobile

Over at SourceForge they've released a plugin that will enable Windows Mobile users to view YoutTube videos via TCPMP without conversion.

I haven't tried this personally, but would certainly like to hear from anyone who's given it a burn.

Hum - not really sure how to do this. The zip contains two files... one to "download" YouTube files, and the other is a plugin. So then - how do install the plugin, and how could I use a program to download videos if I don't know the URL?

It's a little tricky... you need to find the video you want, via PIE for example, then paste the link into the bundled exe: youtubedownload (the -x86 version is for desktop.) From there it will download the video for local viewing in TCPMP.

Dump the plugin files directly into the TCPMP folder (program files\TCPMP\)

Cheers.

Hi, can this be used with the Core Player or does it only work with the older TCPMP?

TIA!

Okay, it works with TCPMP but doesn't seem to work with Core Player. Does anyone know how to get it to work with Core Player? Thanks.

I've heard that CP is a no go... The only thing I could suggest is dropping the same plugins into various CP folders and hope for the best... I would think it would work though, given that CP is basically a retail version of TCPMP.

Cheers,

Posting this here is OK, but posting in unrelated threads is not (especially under a different user name).

Has anybody actually tried this service to verify it is legitimate? If it's not, let me know and I'll delete this post and ban the IP address of the user.

Ban him. Ripping YT content is probably not legal.

I wasn't so much worried about legality, but whether the service actually worked. (As opposed to giving you something that was supposed to be a video but was actually a Trojan Horse.)

As far as legality goes, I view ripping YouTube content similarly to ripping a DVD (which is probably a violation of the DMCA). Even PC World has linked to KeepTube (a YouTube converter), so if this service actually works, I think some people would find it useful (maybe they want to play our video content on their Windows Mobile devices, for example).

Besides, I don't think a lot of the cooked and leaked ROMs are legal, either, but we occasionally link to them and I don't want to ban our news staff.
