Ever hear of Amazon's service TextBuyIt? It lets you send a text message to Amazon, find prices on an item (which may come in handy when you're out at a store comparing prices), and proceed to buy the item from your phone if you like the price. If you do decide to buy the product, you'll get a call on your cell phone from Amazon to confirm other details, so that your friend can't order you up a $3,000 LCD TV as a prank.
It's probably more economical (no SMS fees) to just access the mobile version of Amazon via a browser on your phone, but for those that are without a data plan, the SMS route is the next best thing.

Nope, never heard of it, but it sounds like it could be useful for people stuck in the 90s with a limited phone.
![]() For those who didn't notice it in the picture (or visit the forums first), you text to "AMAZON" (or 262966). Steve |
