Post Jiggly iPhone App Launcher Makes Its Way to Windows Mobile

VITO Technology just launched an application/program launcher similar to that found on Windows Mobile where users can arrange their icons on a series of different screens. Tapping and holding down on the icon will enact an iPhone-like jiggly behavior and users can remove the icon. The new launcher is called Winterface.

Winterface comes with an integrated task manager, a way to create photo contacts as a "program" icon to launch the contact's information quickly, a lock screen requiring a swipe to unlock.

The program will be good for users who either want to jazz up their device with a different look and feel than the traditional Windows Mobile Start Menu or the Program folder, or for users who need a quick way to launch and categorize their programs based on what they used most or another efficient manner. With Winterface, like the iPhone App screen, you can have different screens for different icons. Screen 1 may be reserved for messaging icons and photo contacts, screen 2 may be reserved for productivity applications, screen 3 may be used for games, and so on. In contrast, the Windows Mobile Program folder categorizes everything by folders and icons in alphabetical order, which may not be the most useful means for users who have a lot of programs.

Easy fix - get an iphone. People who buy this app will only complain that it doesnt hide WM completely so bypass all that and get an iphone.

Unfortunately Winterface didn't work at all on my Device. I loaded the cab method first, then unistalled and tried the exe. both times the program installed but when i select the Winterface icon, my PPC freezes up and I have to soft reset. Additionally, when I up and running again my phone/data connection are turned off! Very bizarre but unless someone has a suggestion, this seems like a bad cab file. I have an ATT 8525 with WM6 installed.

That's really strange. I wonder if you have another program installed that is causing a conflict. Did you try contacting VITO about it?

Thanks Brandon.

I did contact Vito as well to let them know the issue. I really don't know of anything on my phone that would conflict with this software. Actually this is the first time I haven't been able to successfully run software that is designed for PPC. My phone should be fairly standard. I use the HTC Home Plugin with Diamond skin now as my primary theme. I also downloaded the HTC Home configurator which is awesome allowing you to modify the look of the homescreen. I wonder if any of these are conflicting with Winterface?

You may have to go into Start > Settings > Today > "Icons" tab > unselect HTC Home

To be honest, im not a very big fan of Vito software, the number of times in the past i got a package from them, it just really wasnt worth it. I've not tried this one but I do suspect it will be almost the same as the many other iPhone Clone apps. I may give it a shot tonight if im bored enuff

Tried it and it did the same thing. so the home screen wasnt conflicting. I'm not sure what could be the problem. I would really like to try it but I am out of luck I guess. I will post if Vito responds back to me. Thanks again for the help.
